Why I built Wardrobe Planner
Hi, I'm Gulam, and I'm a keen DIYer.
When I set out to build my own wardrobe, I ended up planning it with a pen and a pencil. I looked for something that would make the measuring easy, and I couldn't find it. I tried various pieces of software and various websites that promised to help me design a wardrobe. Some wanted me to sign up or pay a subscription, and most were built around slick 3D models. You could design something that looked great, but they gave you almost no useful information: no cut sizes, no board counts, nothing you could actually build from.
All I wanted was a simple page where I could type in my measurements and get a clear drawing I could print. I wanted to see which carcass was which, which board went where, and what size to cut each piece, so that when the time came to join everything together it would be easy. Doing all that by hand on a piece of paper was slow, and it was easy to get wrong.
So I built this. You enter the size of your wardrobe or shelving, add shelves, dividers, a hanging rail and doors, and it works out every piece for you. It gives you a cut list with a letter for every piece, shows how many sheets of board you need and where to saw them, and lets you print or save the lot as a PDF to take into the workshop.

The planner gives sizes for guidance. Always check measurements against your own room and boards before cutting.
